Turchinov Alexander

Born on March 31, 1964 in Dnepropetrovsk. He graduated from Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical University.

Turchinov started his career on mining and smelting combine Krivorozhstal.

1991-1991 - editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian department of the Informational agency Una-press APN.

1991 - becomes the head of the Institute of International Relations, Economics and Law. A year later – the head of Dnepropetrovsk regional state administration Committee on privatization and demonopolization of industry.

Since 1993 - economics adviser of prime-minister Leonid Kuchma.

In 1998 he was elected to be Ukraine MP. The head of Budget Committee of Verhovna Rada.

In the year 2002 was reelected to be Ukraine MP as a Block of Julia Timoshenko member.

Turchinov is one of the founders of the Unity of Democratic Opposition Forces and Forum of National Salvation. The first deputy chairman of the party Batkivshchina(Motherland). The doctor of economics sciences, professor. The author of scientific publications and monographs devoted to research of corruption and shady economics origin, genesis of totalitarian tendencies in modern society.

After the Orange revolution holds the post of the head of Security Service of Ukraine.

May 23 – Yushchenko appoints him the first deputy of the Secretary of SNSPU.

After the pre-term parliamentary elections of 2007 he was appointed the first vice-prime-minister.

Married, has a son.
