Tomenko Nikolay
1983-1985 – serves in army, took part in Afghanistan war.
1989 – graduated from the historical faculty of the Kiev National University of Taras Shevchenko.
1992 – finished postgraduate course at the same university. Defended the Candidate's dissertation "Problem of statehood in policy documents and activities of modern political parties of Ukraine: historical and political analysis".
1992-1995 – Tomenko Nikolay works as the head of the political sciences department of the Public Administration and Self-governing Institute under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Since September 1994 - associate professor at political science department at the National University Kiev-Mogila Acadamy. In three years he becomes the head of the department.
2000-2001 – head of the chief administration of press and information of the Kyiv city state administration.
In 2002 became Ukraine MP for the first time. Works at VR Freedom of Speech and Information Committee, and even was elected its chairman. He was the author and participant of a couple of legislative and social initiatives on deliverance from censorship of Ukrainian mass media and on freedom of speech establishment.
After he became Nasha Ukraina member he didn’t make a single move to other political formations. During presidential elections 2004 was one of the most active members of Yushchenko team. He is considered one of the heroes of the Orange revolution. They say it was Tomenko who created the slogans East and West together, Militia with the people, Freedom can’t be stopped.
After Yushchenko’ victory he took the post of the vice-premier on humanitarian questions in the government of Yulia Timoshenko. Soon after the resignation he became the member of Batkivshchyna party, headed by Yulia Timoshenko.
2006 became Ukrain MP for the second time as a BYT member. Deputy leader of the BYT fraction and the head of the Family, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism Committee.
February 2007 - 340 was elected a vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
On the pre-term parliamentary elections of 2007 became a Ukraine MP again.
Nikolay Tomenko is the author of more than a thousand scientific articles, the book "History of Ukrainian constitution", "ABC of the Ukrainian politics", "theory of the Ukrainian love", co-author of the textbook "Principals of the politics theory".
Married, his wife Valentina is a historian, master of state administration. They have a son. Tomenko is fond of modern Ukrainian pop-music and sports (basketball, football, tennis).
