Stetskiv Taras
Born on June 7, 1964 in Lviv. Father is a jeweler, mother is a fashion designer. Taras Stetskiv is a historian. In 1986 he graduated from the Lviv State Ivan Franko University.
After graduation worked as a teacher. In 1987 became a lecturer at the nursing school in Lviv. Later - junior research associate at Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art.
In the late 1980's Taras Stetskiv plunged into the social activities and policies.
1987-1989 -- he is the secretary and member of the board of Tovarystvo Lvova.
In 1989-1990 - Member of the Presidium of the Lvov provincial council of Rukh, a member of the Grand Council of Rukh.
Since 1991 - member of the Presidium of the Party of Democratic Revival of Ukraine (PDVU).
Taras Stetskiv – Ukraine MP of the first four convocations. As a parliamentarian he has gone through membership in PDVU and in the People's Democratic Party.
In 1999 became the member of the Party of Reforms and Order. Almost immediately went into the board of PRO, became the head of the Lviv regional organization.
In the Verkhovna Rada of IV convocation was one of the most visible members of the faction Our Ukraine. In 2004 actively participated in the election campaign of Viktor Yushchenko and in the Orange Revolution.
In February 2005 was appointed the President of the National Television Company of Ukraine (TV channel UT-1).
September 8, 2005 - President of Ukraine dismissed him from the post of the NTKU President by his own volition. This almost coincided with the resignation of the Yulia Tymoshenko Government.
On the election campaign 2006 Taras Stetskiv did not get to the Verkhovna Rada for the first time since 1991.
21 September 2006 President Viktor Yuschenko appointed Taras Stetskiv his adviser (Political Affairs).
In early elections (autumn 2007) he got into the Verkhovna Rada on the list of pro-presidential Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense (NUNS).
Taras Stetskiv convinced that Ukraine should not go for political concessions with Russia over the price of gas; that the soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Party should be officially recognized as participants of the liberation movement for the independence of Ukraine.
Politician is married. His wife Galina (b. 1962) is a teacher. They have two children. Taras Stetskiv speaks English and Polish. He is fond of football, loves literature: historical, philosophical, European and Ukrainian classics.
