In 1958-1960 – teacherat the Chernivtsi Finance Technical School, then – consultant-methodologist of the House of Political Enlightenment, lector, and a secretary helper, a manager of agitation and propaganda department of Chernivtsi Regional Committee of CPU. In 70-s -80-s – a manager of the sector, an inspector, a secretary helper, fist assistant of the head of department, a manager of agitation and propaganda department of CC of CPU.
In 1988-1991 – a manager of the ideology department of CC of CPU, second secretary of CC of CPU. In 1990 was elected the People`s deputy of the Supreme Rada, then – the speaker of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine. On 1st od December, 1991 was elected the President of Ukraine on the first direct presidential election.
On the presidential election 1994 in the second tour lost totheformer prime minister Kuchma, got 45% of the voices. Four times was electedthedeputy of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine.
2006 – on the parliamentary elections of SDPU(u) did not overpass 3% barrier.
Declared his intention to be engaged in social and political activity.
The author of over 500 articles.
His spouse Antonina Myhaylivnais the senior lecturer of economic faculty of Kiev National University of Taras Shevchenko. Has ason – Alexander.
